Shannon Grove

Republican for State Board of Equalization

Meet Shannon

Senator Shannon Grove was born and raised in Kern County.

After graduating from high school, Senator Grove served in the United States Army. While stationed in Frankfurt, Germany she witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

Following her service to our nation, she established a staffing company with her sister-in-law called Continental Labor and Staffing Resources. Senator Grove currently serves as the CEO of this business that connects new employees to jobs in the area.

Prior to her election to the State Senate, Senator Grove was the first woman veteran elected to the California Legislature when she served the 34th Assembly District from 2010 to 2016.

Senator Grove was elected to represent the 16th Senate District in November 2018, which includes portions of Kern, Tulare, and San Bernardino counties. In January 2019, she was elected Leader of the Senate Republican Caucus and served in that capacity for two years.

In November 2022, Shannon Grove was elected to the newly-drawn 12th State Senate District which includes Fresno, Tulare, and Kern counties.

Shannon Grove has spent her legislative career fighting to reduce burdensome regulations while increasing government transparency and accountability. As a small business owner, she knows how important it is to protect taxpayer interests and fight for those she serves. While inflation continues to soar, tax dollars are more precious than ever and cannot be wasted on failed government programs. Shannon Grove believes government should be beholden to the taxpayer, not the other way around.

Senator Grove is a strong supporter of law enforcement and for protecting California children. In 2023, she authored SB 14, the landmark legislation to establish a felony for sex trafficking children in California which was successfully signed into law. She is a strong defender of small businesses who deserve fair, not punitive, regulation, and supporting critically important agriculture and energy production in the state of California. She resides in Bakersfield with her husband, Rick. They are parents of five children and eleven grandchildren.
